Alan Wake video game

You may have never fired a gun before but when being hunted by creatures you will find that your need for a gun becomes important. In Alan Wake the most fearsome enemy is the darkness, the monsters that hide in the shadows becoming more powerful as they move the black unknown. The Alan Wake game is all about fear and tension. In the dark you hear a noise, using your touch to scan the area but always have your finger on the trigger, waiting for the attack. In this game you will need to be afraid of the dark , if not you will be enveloped by the evil forces that hide from your field of vision. The atmosphere that you find in the wilderness, will not allow you to forget the dangers and the feeling of dread in this adventure game. Although this does not have enough surprises, the storyline and the combat make up for this, right up to the thrilling end.

Although the writer has been not done much since his best selling novel a couple of years, but this story comes to life. Set in a mountain village the dark forces that populate the night will be familiar to anyone who is in to horror, but the storyline makes this game different from this normal storylines. Alan Wake’s brash nature, at time make him unlikable but with all his thoughts are about saving his wife, at all costs.

The storyline has some optional collectibles that you will find in the forests. A page from a unpublished manuscript lie off the path, but it is interest to pick these up, even if it means going in to the deadliest parts of the forest. These normally are a sign that something is waiting for you around the next corner, or their may just be detail regarding your quest. This games you a look at what other people in town are doing. Thai are not the only things you will find, although these are much harder to find, televisions or radios can be turned on to give you a brief look at what is happening. The television show has been modelled after The Twilight Zone with the scenes showing you all the twists and moral lessons.

The fights sciences make this a excellent story, give you about 12 hours of adventure, which not have a dull moment. The touch that you carry in your left hand can be used to weaken your enemies, who try to attack you. Use to torch by pointing ay them for few seconds, this weakens then enough allowing you to use your gun. When getting surround by them, you will have to pick one to spray your light into, while keeping the rest at bay. If your attackers get to close, you will able to duck at the last second, this triggers a slow-motion dodge allowing you retaliate by their get time to launch a second attack. Your health regenerates after each battle and the amount of ammunition sprinkled about, means that you will rarely be killed, having said that each encounter is still exciting.

Exploring the forests is as important as being able to fight. You will need to leave the path to find the missing manuscripts and television sets, and hidden weapons can also be found this way, which you will need to help fend off your attackers. Apart from your normal pistol there will a hunting rifle and a shotgun hidden somewhere in this adventure, making short work of your attackers at close range. There are also some explosive weapons, which quickly kills off all those who are afraid of the light, tossing a explosive grenade into a group of your foes, and watch them melt away. There a few extra touches that add to the tension, by tapping x rapidly helps to load the gun more quickly, thus is shown by Alan Wake’s movements, as you both straggly to stay alive. You can also find generators which energize nearby lights allowing you to take shelter, but as you have guessed this is not as easy as it sounds, you will need to do a few precise button taps, at the same time as being attacked.

The games starts with a car accident in what seems to be a peaceful woods. You see a lighthouse on the other side of the forest and slowly make your way towards it, but the forest is not as peaceful as you first thought. You will have to sprint to a nearby cabin and barricade yourself in, thus set the tone for this game. Alan Wake’s night time walks start to become a little predictable. There are a few core actions such as escort missions and a novel way with the classic turret sequence, but not many sup rises. Apart from this the storyline and the fight scenes are so good, not allowing for this game to become stale.
The forest that you spend most of your time in well set out, with a fog blanket to add to the atmosphere. Your torch will produce some light but not enough to make you feel safe. Your enemies are all around you their can and will sneak up behind you, with the music adding the tension. Every moment of this story is fraught with tension
