Gold and Silver – Going Up – Time to Buy More?
Why? Here are a few indications:
- Central banks around the world have become net buyers of gold for the first time in 20 years. This is a radical change as for several years the European central banks had been net sellers of gold. Very large purchases have been made by central banks in Mexico, Russia, South Korea, and Thailand in addition to large purchases by the usual buyers in China and India.
Finally, according to Bloomberg News, Austria has recently limited the purchases of gold by citizens to 15,000 euros per transaction. Austrian authorities say the reason is to prevent money laundering. Such restrictions in any country will increase demand for gold mining stocks.
Gold trading by traders often follows the trend following method. The strong trend has brought money into gold for the last 2 months is now being withdrawn by traders. The fundamentals remain strong. The current decline is just traders taking profits and a few new holders panicking. This is why we say use rallies to take profits and buy the dips.
- Greece may default on its debt which could trigger a domino effect putting Spain and Italy under pressure
- Italy just had its debt downgraded by Standard and Poor
- In October this year, Australia will open its first physical bullion exchange offering an over-the-counter spot market for gold, silver and platinum
- The International Monetary Fund lowered its global growth outlook, warning that “the global economy is in a dangerous new phase.”
So if you haven’t got your physical gold and silver, there is still time to get in. If you have already bought, consider buying more before the prices go off the charts. In fact, with the price of gold at just $1733.00 today, this is a great time to get in. The likely reason for the current dip is that traders have been taking profits and new holders of bullion have been panicking.
Overall, gold looks extremely bullish, so don’t be put off by the sudden chop in the gold price. Use it to your advantage to buy more.
Do not borrow money to invest in gold or silver and don’t try to trade on the futures markets as it is going to be very erratic and volatile. But if you are a long-term investor, sit tight and watch your money increase in value.
