Madagascar 2 Africa
Landmarks in Madagascar
Madagascar, a tear-drop shaped country off the eastern coast of Africa boasts of its rich wildlife and natural resources. From baobab trees to lemurs, this place is the place to find almost 5 percent of all animal and plants.
As a result of its being separated from mainland Africa, the island-nation’s diverse wildlife has continuously evolved on its own. With 80% of the nature unique to Madagascar soil, this is the perfect place for any nature and animal lover.
The French, English and Malagasy speaking people of Madagascar are one of the most polite, friendly and cheerful people. Originating one or more of the riches cultures with origins from Southeast Asia, India, Africa and the Middle East; the Malagasy people hold their customs, traditions and beliefs very important to them.
Visit the nation’s capital, Antananarivo, where lots of tourists go to take pleasure from great accommodation and tourist conveniences. With both budget and luxury hotels, tourists can roam around the city to sample the food and markets without leaving their comfort zone. After Antananarivo, take a train to the port town of Toamasina renowned for its scenic coastline, gorgeous beaches, coral reefs and the central markets all located on its sandy peninsula. For a cooler climate, visit the town of Antsirabe that is found on the slopes of Mount Tsiafajavona where one can ride a colourful rickshaw, soothe oneself in thermal baths and enjoy haggling over handicrafts and artefacts in the town streets. Never forget to go on wildlife tours in nature reserves that are located all around the country. Go to the Masoala National Park where one can go through the rainforest and coastal forest. With three marine parks and a terrestrial park to protect the wildlife, this place boasts of its rare types of eagles, serpents and lemurs in addition to its rich biodiversity.
The optimum time to go to tropical Madagascar would be from July to October when the climate is cool over time with the nation’s dry season. The least favourable time to go would be from November to April, the rainy season where thunderstorms and cyclones are quite common. Although travelling in Madagascar has never been significantly risky, one’s main concern during their travels would be the chance of thievery. Always keep your valuables with you and be alert to your belongings specifically in crowded places.

Madagascar $4.71 Most of the older songs included on the soundtrack to this animated feature are so well-known that they border on well-worn (Vangelis’ Chariots of Fire theme has to be one of the most reused pieces of 20th-century music ever) but their feel-good quotient is also hard to deny. (Earth, Wind & Fire’s “Boogie Wonderland” again? Sure, bring it on!) Still, it’s hard not to wish the brains behind this CD… |
