First Grivel invented the monster, and then they invented the patented X Monster. The monster was built for dry tooling. The strange shaft of the Grivel X Monster makes the ice axe a unique tool that is perfect for climbing.
The X Monster Ice Axe has a double handle which makes it incredibly comfortable. You can hold the shaft when climbing on snow which keeps your gloves dry. This is due to your hands being further away from the snow. The handle has been tailored to be more ergonomic. This allows you to hold the axe in many different ways. You can even hold two ice axes in one hand.
The x monster is superbly well balanced and this allows it to be swung through the air fairly well. The blade has been made in a way that makes it useful as an all round tool. You can use it to climb on, dry terrain, ice falls, and snow. The blade design makes it just right for both mountaineering and dry tooling. The blade can be jammed into smaller cracks and the added nut can be used for wedging into larger cracks. The bendy shaft makes it easier to anchor into cracks. The nut is useful for hammering in pitons.
The ice axe has been formed with Chromolly steel using a hot forged process which makes the axe immensely strong and weather-proof. Should the ice axe not be up to standard and brake in any way. Grivel offer a lifetime warranty with the X Monster.
