So throw him a curve ball… Confirm your shot target is about to Manual, aim at the far side of the net, and make your shot.
Also, make efforts to master the deke move. The old fake out, whether you deke left or right, is a guaranteed methodology to make your way to the goal tender. Practice this one till it becomes second nature.
Surrounded by your rival’s defense? Then get the puck away! Pass the puck to the opposite end. When you are overwhelmed like that, you run the chance of being taken down, with nobody left to help your goalie. This strategy gives you sufficient time to get it together.
For defense, we highly recommend the ever-lovin’ body check. Sure, the poke check isn’t without its humble charm. Yes, we’ve said it before : timing and positioning are key in successfully executing this move. Still, the reward of knocking your rival down is really worth the risk.
Your rival will have plenty of his men nearby, prepared to handily deflect or intercept your passes. Take a breath, find a teammate who’s open, and pass. A rushed pass is more than likely a bungled pass.
Shooting the puck to the other side of the ice is about as much of a defense tool as it is offense. If you’re similarly being swarmed by the goal, with the offense taking a lot of shots, deflect the pass, and shoot it way the hell down to the other side of the ice. It’s a good system that gives you time to recover and get your act together.
Finally, a last NHL video game tip – beginning a fight. If you would like to pick a fight, tell your rival that you screwed his fiance ( O.K, bad idea ). In the game itself, the most effective way to start a fight with your rival is to delay until he is’s truly trailing, and time is running out. Likely, he is going to be more than prepared to oblige your wishes. Good luck kicking his ass.
