Sonic Generations

Sonic the Hedgehog has been through a rough patch recently in the gaming world. He has had an occasional good release here and there, but they are far less and few and far in between. That all looks to change with the 20th Sonic the Hedgehog anniversary game, Sonic Generations. This game combines the best of the old Sonic games and levels with the best of the new Sonic games. The new Sonic games did have good speed levels, so to see them is not a bad thing at all. This game is a 2.5D/3D game. The 2.5D is like the old Genesis days, only in HD. It does look and sound just like the old days, and that’s definitely a good thing. Even the past Sonic is a light blue fat version, like the first version before he grew up. And the 3D levels are for the current generation Sonic to run through.

The game’s story isn’t really known at this point, just that Sonic and his friends (probably Tails and Knuckles for sure), have been transported to the past and Sonic and friends must figure out what the new enemy is up to and deal with Dr Robotnic at the same time. The story isn’t completely known, or how well it’ll play out, but based on the trailers Sega has hit this one out of the ballpark for sure. This game looks worthy of the title Sonic Generations, for it truly represents the old days and the very small part of the good Sonic games now. It takes the best of all and throws it all into one game, and that’s very exciting. This game easily looks much better and more fun than Sonic the Hedgehog 4, although that game really is a blast to play to me. It’s nothing on this game though.

The exciting thing is that this game looks like it’ll have a demo release soon, which is several months before the actual game comes out, so we’ll get to have a taste of how good a game it is or will be. I love Sonic the Hedgehog, so seeing a game this awesome and great will be wonderful for the series and I’m hoping 2011 will continue Sonic’s revival. It’s already going great with Sonic Colors and Sonic the Hedgehog 4, so Sonic Generations may just put it over the top.

The surprising truth about Disney’s 1982 computer-game fantasy is that it’s still visually impressive (though technologically quaint by later high-definition standards) and a lot of fun. It’s about a computer wizard named Flynn (Jeff Bridges) who is digitally broken down into a data stream by a villainous software pirate (David Warner) and reconstituted into the internal, 3-D graphical world of co…
