Wii Remote MotionPlus Bundle – Black
Microsoft XBox Kinect – The Motion Control Game Console
Gaming companies have been fighting it out for a long time and with Wii taking the lead with the motion control tracking systems, other gaming companies have fought to keep up. This is where Microsoft’s new Xbox Kinect has come into play.
The new Xbox Kinect, released November 4, 2010, comes with no remote controls. It also includes voice recognition software and true 3D interactivity. The Kinect unit has smart technology that can even sense how many players are playing. It also can be played online through Xbox Live so you can play against or with friends and family around the world.
The Kinect system does connect to all existing Xbox 360s. Some even say that it is a Xbox 360 peripheral equipped with an interface all its own. In this, one can play old games or enjoy the huge variety of new games that are expected to launch with this new system. Bundles and games will vary according to what you buy. Games already created for Kinect includes: Kinect Sports, Kinect Adventures, Kinectimals, dance Central, your Shape, Kinect Joy Ride, zumba, The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout, Active 2, DECA Sports Freedom, Fighters Uncaged, Motion Sports, Sonic Free Riders, Harry Potter, Adrenal Misfits, and much more. Games were designed for small children all the way up to serious gaming adults.
How can you tell the difference between your Xbox 360 games and those just for Kinect? Games that can be played only with Kinect will have a purple case with a purple wave next to the green waves on the header of the box art. Games that have optional Kinect support will feature a standard green Xbox 360 case with a purple bar underneath the header.
Microsoft states that there will be many other games to follow starting early next year. The company has had third-party publishers working on games for this unit since September of last year.
So how exactly does the Xbox Kinect work? The technology of the unit is said to be based around a webcam add-on peripheral. The camera interprets 3D scene information which enables users to control and interact with the unit without a need to touch a game controller. You can use gestures, spoken commands or you can even present objects and images to operate the system. The software also enables advanced gesture recognition and facial recognition to go with its voice recognition. It can track simultaneously up to six people including two active players for motion analysis.
Although Microsoft originally designed the game to have a sensor that contained a microprocessor that would perform operations such as the system’s skeletal mapping, the company changed directions in January of this year and decided it would not have a sensor that featured such a dedicated processor.
The Kinect was built to compete with the Wii Remote, Wii MotionPlus and PlayStation Move. Bundles and the Kinect game are sold almost everywhere, including Wal-Mart where bundles start in price at $289 all the way up to $388. The $388 bundle comes with a Kinect Sensor, built in Wi-Fi, Xbox Live, an Xbox 360 wireless controller and the game Kinect Adventures. If you are looking for a way to save up money to make this incredible purchase, you can sell your old consoles for cash. When you sell electronics online you can get cash for used electronics such as older models of game consoles.
